I love watching winter melt away as spring wakes up. The winter-to-spring transition is one of nature’s most magical moments! But how can you tell when spring has sprung? Fortunately, nature gives us a few clues!
Spring’s arrival may vary in different regions and climates, but you can probably find some of these signs of spring in your backyard or a local nature area.
- Trees budding, especially willows and maples
- Blossoms on some shrubs and trees
- Green shoots in flowerbeds
- Early blooming flowers like snowdrops and primroses
- Bees and butterflies pollinating
- More squirrel, skunk, and deer sightings
- Birdsong, especially from birds that left during winter
- Birds’ nests
- Peeps and croaks from frogs
- Clumps of frog eggs in ponds
- Sudden rainstorms
- Sunnier, warmer weather
Seeing these signs is so exciting! I especially love taking a walk and trying to spot as many springtime wonders as I can. What signs of spring are your favorites? Click the blue button below to vote! 👓
